About Me

I am Elana Skyer, a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) working in and around New York City. Since 2008, I have been providing therapy as an SLP in schools, Early Intervention and private practice. I also provide consultation work for families who need assistance with interpreting and understanding evaluations and how to use that information during IEP meetings. Furthermore, I design and implement workshops to educate schools, professionals and families about language disorders, evaluations, treatment strategies, and how to support children across educational environments.
I have extensive experience working with children with special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Articulation Disorders and Phonological Speech Disorders, Fluency and Stuttering, Language Impairment, Reading Disabilities, Executive Functioning/Organizational Difficulties, Learning Disabilities and Developmental Delays.
I earned my Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from New York University and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany. I am a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and earned my Certificate of Clinical Competence in 2009. I pursure many continuing education courses, including PROMPT; Michelle Garcia Winner – Teaching Social Thinking Through Stories and Play for Early Learners; Feeding Therapy: A Sensory Motor Approach; Advanced Treatment for School-Age Children and Adolescents Who Stutter; and Carol Westby – The Roots of Literacy, Play and Language. I have also taken advanced coursework in Autism through City University of New York at Hunter College.
